failed to build UI on WINDOWS

You are viewing an Unlisted article which can only be accessed by people with the direct link.

Failed to build UI can be caused mainly by duplicate blob files (content files) in other locations from a previous install of the instrument. Please locate the duplicate blob files and delete them (be sure not to delete the ones you just installed)

To avoid this issue, when you are installing an updated version and choose a specific folder for the content files (blobs), please ensure you choose the same install location when updating to ensure it writes over the previous version, or delete the previous versions blob files and then install the new version.

If the above does not solve the issue for you than please follow the rest of the tutorial:

The other cause of the Failed to build UI is when the plug-in cannot find its content files. This can occur if you have moved the content files after install and the plug-in failed to update to their new location, or during the install, the installer was unable to update the file that tells the Plug-in where to look for its contents.

To solve this, please follow the instructions below:

WINDOWS Systems:

Find the location of the blob files (the large content files), default install location is: ProgramData/Virharmonic/Bohemian Violin

If you placed them in a different location, please make a note of where they are.

Please also make sure the content files named Blobs (part 1 and part 2) are in the same folder.

So we need to find and edit the "Bohemian Cello.settings" or "Bohemian Violin.settings file depending on which instrument you are using, this file tells the plugin where to look for the blob files each time it opens and is a hidden file.

The file is placed in ProgramData/Virharmonic/Bohemian Cello/Bohemian cello.settings or ProgramData/Virharmonic/Bohemian Violin/Bohemian violin.settings

To find the above path you will need to have "show hidden files on" in windows. To see hidden files please Open File Explorer from the taskbar. In the top of the Explorer window Select View > Options > Change folder and search options. Then Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and click OK.

Drag the Bohemian Cello.settings or the Bohemian Violin.settings onto your desktop (the folder has restricted permissions so the file needs to be in a place where it can be edited, like the desktop)

Open Bohemian Cello.settings or the Bohemian Violin.settings in notepad and make sure that the new address of the Blob File is correct.

Here is an example, my blobs (content files) are on my "C:" drive  in a folder named "TestRelocation"

This image below shows where the settings file is on my system and the settings file open in notepad.

To find your blob location path, please locate the folder that contains the two blob files and right click on it and select "properties". In the pop up properties panel, please highlight and copy the location.

Paste the location name into the settings file between the last " " then add the extra \ so there are two \ instead of one and save the file.

Now Drag the file back into the Bohemian Violin or Cello folder.

This should now tell the Bohemian Cello/Violin plugin where to look for your blob files.
