failed to build UI on MAC

You are viewing an Unlisted article which can only be accessed by people with the direct link.

Failed to build UI can be caused mainly by duplicate blob files (content files) in other locations from a previous install of the instrument. Please locate the duplicate blob files and delete them (be sure not to delete the ones you just installed)

To avoid this issue, when you are installing an updated version and choose a specific folder for the content files (blobs), please ensure you choose the same install location when updating to ensure it writes over the previous version, or delete the previous versions blob files and then install the new version.

If the above does not solve the issue for you than please follow the rest of the tutorial:

The other cause of the Failed to build UI is when the plug-in cannot find its content files. This can occur if you have moved the content files after install and the plug-in failed to update to their new location, or during the install, the installer was unable to update the file that tells the Plug-in where to look for its contents.

To solve this, please follow the instructions below:

MAC Systems:

Please make sure the content files named Blobs (part 1 and part 2) are in the same folder.

So we need to find and edit the "Bohemian Cello.settings" or "Bohemian Violin.settings file depending on which instrument you are using, this file tells the plugin where to look for the blob files each time it opens.

The file is placed in User/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/Virharmonic/Bohemian Violin/Bohemian Violin.settings or User/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/Virharmonic/Bohemian Cello/Bohemian Cello.settings

To find the above path you will need to have "show hidden files on" press Command + shift + . (Period/Full stop)

There is another application support in Library that you can see normally, but that is not the one we want, we want the hidden one first (if there is no hidden one, then edit the non hidden version instead).

Open Bohemian Violin.settings or Bohemian Cello.settings file in text editor and make sure that the new address of the Blob File is correct.

Here is an example, these blobs (content files) are on an external drive "LACIE 2TB" in a folder named "V4 violin"

edit path file.jpg

To get your complete path of the blobs "content files", Right click on the Folder that contains the blob files: Bohemian Violin_part1.blob and Bohemian Violin_part2.blob and hold down option key and it will give you a new option in the pop up menu to "copy as a pathname" instead of the normal copy.

You can then paste the path name into that settings file between the last " " and save.

This should now tell the Bohemian Violin plugin where to look for your content files.
